Who still remembers the video cameras from the old-time? Nowadays, people rely on their smartphones most of the time to shoot videos, but did you know when did the first video camera get invented? According to Wikipedia, The first video camera was invented in the early 1900s by a man named John Logie Baird. The earliest video cameras were based on the mechanical Nipkow disk and used in experimental broadcasts from the 1910s–1930s. All-electronic designs based on the video camera tube, such as Vladimir Zworykin’s Iconoscope and Philo Farnsworth’s image dissector, supplanted the Nipkow system by the 1930s. This analog setup was used for many years until the 1980s. where the world slowly turned digital!

Evolution of the Camera

Do you know when was the first computer made? According to Computer History Museum, the first computer was made back in 1943 by John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert at the Moore School of Electrical Engineering of the University of Pennsylvania. I guess this is where it all started, with the video camera, the computer, the invention of the internet, and some creativity. In the old times, we have to watch movies or videos on TV or in the theater but now we can also use computers and smartphones.

Now, let’s discuss some of the important elements of today’s marketing trend. The importance of incorporating video marketing.

Video marketing has become one of the most important digital marketing trends for marketers for the next couple of years. According to some video statistics from sources like PEW Research Center, Forbes, and Wyzowl:

  • 70% of consumers say that they have shared a brand’s video. (Wyzowl)
  • 72% of businesses say video has improved their conversion rate. (Wyzowl)
  • 52% of consumers say that watching product videos makes them more confident in online purchase decisions. (Invodo)
  • 65% of executives visit the marketer’s website and 39% call a vendor after viewing a video. (Forbes)

Video marketing has become one of the most popular ways for customers to learn about your brand and products. I am sure everyone heard about YouTube. This magic platform has made its way up so much for the past few years. It has officially become one of the most popular social media platforms for everyone.

% of U.S adults who say they ever use…

We know that YouTube is mainly a video social platform but other social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, or LinkedIn also added video features where you can post videos or do live streaming. If your site or social media platform includes video, it is 50 times more likely to drive organic search results compared to text because people find videos more interesting, more attention-grabbing, and with higher traffic, you will get a higher ranking on Google. Many marketers and influencers are in favor of creating video content to grab the audience’s attention. From my personal experience, a video post will often get 5 times more views, likes, and engagements than a photo.

Some of the new video trends include live video, 1 on 1 video, video SEO, and 360-degree video content. Businesses use these video formats for interviews, product demos, events, and video SEO will help increase traffic. Overall, I feel that video is awesome to help brands deliver the messages you want customers to receive, and instead of having to read those long and boring texts, you visually catch people’s attention.

Since I had positive results from incorporating video marketing, I would strongly suggest all marketers start planning their video marketing strategies if you haven’t already.
